Security Bags

Security bags, envelopes and pouches provide visible tamper evidence for handling cash and valuables, confidential documents, forensic exhibits and healthcare samples. Our range includes single-use security envelopes (AKA tamper evident mailers) and reusable security pouches and bags for closed-loop applications such as controlled internal distribution. Popular sizes include A5–A3, with the option of fully bespoke designs. Tamper-evident bags and envelopes help reduce risk when transporting valuable or sensitive items, providing a clear deterrent to theft or interference. Trusted across logistics, healthcare, retail, banking and the public sector.

Single-Use vs Reusable Bags

Single-use security envelopes and tamper-evident bags are best suited to one-way movements such as post, courier and external transfers, where a sealed pack is issued once and then removed from use. For sustainability requirements, many single-use options can be supplied with bag film containing at least 80% post-consumer recycled (PCR) content. Reusable options are typically chosen for closed-loop routes—such as internal logistics, cash handling and controlled distribution—where repeat handling, durability and colour coding are important. This includes PVC security pouches and carriers, as well as sturdier woven PP security sacks for higher-capacity or more demanding applications, usually secured with a disposable tamper-evident seal.

UN3373 Bags: What’s Different?

UN3373 specimen transport packaging is used for Category B biological substances and follows a more specific packing format than standard security envelopes or cash bags. While standard security bags focus on tamper evidence and traceability, UN3373 workflows often require components such as 95kPa specimen bags, absorbent materials and compliant outer packaging with the correct labelling. If you’re transporting diagnostic samples, view our UN3373 specimen bags and accessories to build the right pack format.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are security bags? Are they the same as tamper-evident bags?

“Security bags” is a broad term for bags used to protect items in transit or storage. “Tamper-evident bags” are security bags specifically designed to reveal interference. You may also see them described as tamper evident bags or tamperproof bags in search terms. Tamper-evident bags are used to protect cash, confidential documents, medical items or evidence in transit or storage. They are designed to show clear signs of interference (for example a VOID message or a numbered seal), include unqiue numbering or barcodes to support traceability, and available as fully customised bags.

What is a security envelope?

A security envelope is a tamper-evident envelope or mailer used to send documents or small items where visible evidence of opening is required. Common formats include single-use security envelopes (often called deposit envelopes or tamper evident mailers).

What is the difference between standard envelopes and security envelopes?

Standard envelopes are intended for general mailing. Security envelopes use tamper-evident closures and more robust materials so attempted opening is easier to detect during handling and transit.

What are security bags used for?

Security bags are used wherever items need to be transported or stored with visible tamper evidence and (often) traceability. Common uses include cash and valuables handling (deposit processes and cash-in-transit), confidential documents (secure internal mail and courier transfers), healthcare logistics (sealed movement of records, medicines or samples within controlled workflows) and evidence handling (forensic exhibits where identification and chain-of-custody processes are important).
