Field-armable shock indicators provide visible evidence when goods may have been exposed to excessive shock during handling, storage or transit. Used on pallets, crates, cartons and export cases, they help prompt inspection on arrival, support damage investigation and encourage more careful handling through the supply chain. Unlike standard always-live shock labels, this version is armed at the point of use. The indicator becomes active when the release liner is removed and the label is applied to the package, helping reduce the risk of accidental activation before the label reaches the end user or packing area.

Each indicator gives a clear visual indication when impact exceeds the selected g-force threshold. Red indication areas (one at the top and one at the bottom) turn bright red when an impact exceeding a set G-level occurs. The upper window will show an impact from above occurred and the lower one an impact from below. If both windows are red, it simply means the indicator suffered from impacts from both directions. A range of sensitivity levels is available, including 5g, 10g, 15g, 25g, 37g, 50g and 75g, allowing the indicator to be matched to the size, weight, fragility and packaging of the goods.

Each indicator includes a unique serial number and QR code, helping receiving teams verify the indicator and discourage replacement after activation.

Key Distinction: Field-Armable vs "Standard" shock indicators
Standard shock indicator labels — often referred to as “version 1” style indicators — are always live and must be handled carefully before application. Field-armable shock indicators — or “version 2” style indicators — become active only when the backing liner is removed, making them a good choice where indicators are shipped, stored or handled before use.

Choosing the right shock indicator sensitivity

Although it may seem counter-intuitive, larger and heavier consignments will often require a lower g-force indicator, because damage can occur at a lower level of shock. Smaller or lighter parcels may tolerate sharper impacts and can often be matched with a higher g-force setting. The correct sensitivity will depend on the size, weight, fragility and packaging of the goods, as well as the transport environment.
